The windows are painted in the trompe l’oeil style, that fools the eye into seeing something that looks real. The Georgian buildings originally had blocked-out windows to avoid the 18th century window tax. In place of these, painted panels were attached, illustrating the history of the town. Today, these panels have been restored and more painted trompe l'oeil windows added. Don't forget to look up!
