About The Whitby Sculpture Trail

The Whitby Sculpture trail consists of 9 steel wire woven figures, created by Emma Stothard on behalf of the town of Whitby and Scarborough council. These striking sculptures portray some of Whitby’s most famous characters, carefully woven by hand and then galvanised.

The sculptures include depictions of women gutting herring fish, skippers collecting lobster pots, and men repairing fishing nets. This is a permanent sculpture trail that takes you on a journey around the town and through Whitby's fishing heritage.
