Matisse and Derain Art Trail

The small unassuming coastal town of Collioure was home to two of France's most celebrated artists: Henri Matisse and Andre Derain. This art trail frames the scenes the artists would have seen along the coastal paths as they created some of their most famous works.

Around the town, there are more than twenty reproductions of Matisse and Derain's work displayed along the coastal path near where the artists would have perched their easels. Near to the paintings are metal picture frames where creative visitors can frame the landscape and photograph a reproduction of the scene depicted in the original masterpieces.
